Level 1
A level 1 charging station is basically equivalent to plugging your car into a standard household 120 volt AC outlet. It’s the slowest method of recharging your electric vehicle as it will usually take about 20 hours to completely charge a typical EV battery. On the upside it’s by far the least expensive type of residential EV Charging Station. If you don’t drive your EV very much this may be the perfect solution for you.
Level 2
The level 2 charging station utilizes a 240 volt AC power source with the result being significantly faster charging times than you’ll get with a level 1 charger. With a level 2 charging station it will only take from 3 to 8 hours to fully charge your battery. It will cost you a bit more to install the level 2 charging station in your garage or on the exterior of your home but the faster charging time will likely make it all worthwhile.
